Freetown Businessman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing 3 Cartons of Tiles, Other Offences
A businessman who identified himself as Ibrahim Sesay on Monday, 11 May 2026, made his first appearance before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah for allegedly stealing three cartons of tiles valued at over Le3,000, property of the complainant, Alhaji Salliue Jalloh.
The accused is before the court on four counts, including larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, wounding with intent contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and malicious damage.
According to the charge sheet, the defendant on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at Howe Street in Freetown, allegedly stole three cartons of tiles valued at Le3,600, property of Alhaji Salliue Jalloh.
The charge sheet further stated that on the same date and at the same location, the defendant allegedly wounded Alhaji Salliue Jalloh with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Police further alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged the complainant’s property and assaulted him in a manner that occasioned actual bodily harm.
After the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken due to the seriousness of the offences.
The prosecutor, CSP Tommy Zizer, served the defendant with bundles of the indictment to enable him prepares his defence.
The accused was not represented by counsel, and no bail application was made on his behalf.
Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah remanded the defendant in custody due to the seriousness of the offences. The matter was adjourned to 17 May 2026 for continuation.
