A vehicle was completely engulfed in flames along a major thoroughfare in Wilberforce on Monday morning, sending thick plumes of black smoke over the area and disrupting local traffic.

The incident occurred in broad daylight near a pedestrian overpass and overhead signs directing traffic toward Congo Cross and Lumley. Photographs from the scene show the vehicle fully consumed by a massive blaze in the middle of the road.

The intense fire reduced the vehicle to a burning shell, generating a massive column of thick, black smoke visible from a distance.

Onlookers, including pedestrians and commercial motorcyclists, gathered at a safe distance to watch the incident unfold. At least one police officer was on the scene to monitor the situation and keep bystanders away from the hazardous heat.

Despite the heavy smoke and roaring fire, a few motorists and motorcyclists could be seen slowly navigating the far side of the street to bypass the wreckage.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and there are no immediate reports regarding injuries or whether the occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle before the fire spread. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the blaze and clear the charred remains from the roadway to fully restore traffic flow.
