The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yong, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, hosted a dinner at the Chinese Embassy on Spur Loop aimed at fostering stronger bilateral relations between China and Sierra Leone.

The event brought together senior personnel from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including representatives from its various agencies and departments, in what was described as an engagement focused on deepening cooperation and strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the dinner served as an opportunity for interaction and collaboration between the Chinese diplomatic mission and officials within Sierra Leone’s internal affairs sector.

Before the commencement of the evening’s dinner, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor, officially welcomed Ambassador Zhao Yong and acknowledged the longstanding contributions of the Chinese government and its representatives to Sierra Leone.

During the brief engagement, Minister Lengor presented parting gifts to the Ambassador as a gesture of goodwill and extended best wishes for a successful diplomatic tenure in Sierra Leone.

The gathering further highlighted the continued cooperation between Sierra Leone and China, particularly in areas of diplomatic engagement and institutional partnership. Officials present at the event also underscored the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations between the two nations.
