Former Leone Stars head coach and current Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Technical Director John Keister is reportedly set to take charge of the national team as caretaker coach for a pair of upcoming international friendlies against Liberia.

The Sierra Leone National Senior Men’s Team, the Leone Stars, will face their regional rivals, the Lone Star of Liberia, in a two-match series during the June FIFA International Window.

The opening match will take place on home soil, with Sierra Leone hosting Liberia on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Southern Arena in Bo City. The teams will then travel to Monrovia for the return leg, where Liberia will host Sierra Leone at the SKD Stadium on Tuesday, June 9.

The back-to-back fixtures serve as a crucial part of the Leone Stars’ preparations for upcoming international competitions. The technical staff is expected to use the friendlies to focus on building team cohesion, testing tactical improvements, and maintaining competitive match fitness.

Football officials are encouraging fans across the country to turn out in large numbers at the Southern Arena to support the national squad during their home fixture.
