The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) has announced Friday, 3rd July 2026, as the date for its presidential debate featuring the two candidates vying for the Association’s top office, Tuma Adama Jabbi and Martina Baindu Egbenda.
The debate is scheduled to take place at the New Brookfields Hotel Hall in Freetown and is expected to draw members of the legal profession, stakeholders, and members of the public.
According to the Association, the event will provide a platform for the candidates to present their visions and engage on critical issues affecting the Bar and the wider legal sector in Sierra Leone.
Key topics slated for discussion include welfare and capacity building for members, professional ethics and discipline, the modernisation and sustainability of the Bar, and the independence of the Association.
The debate is anticipated to offer valuable insight into the candidates’ policies and strategies, while allowing voters to assess their leadership approaches ahead of the Election.
Observers say the engagement underscores the Bar Association’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the strengthening of democratic processes within the legal profession.
