The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Seoul, South Korea, has congratulated President Dr Julius Maada Bio on the successful hosting of the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, describing the event as a major diplomatic achievement for Sierra Leone.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Embassy, its diplomatic staff, and the Sierra Leonean diaspora community in the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador and High Commissioner to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Dr Paul S. Massaquoi, praised the successful organisation of the regional summit, saying it reflects the country’s growing influence in regional affairs and international diplomacy.
According to Ambassador Massaquoi, the summit represents a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s diplomatic journey and demonstrates the country’s increasing leadership role in promoting regional cooperation, political stability, and economic transformation within the ECOWAS sub-region.
He noted that under President Bio’s leadership, particularly in his capacity as Chairman of ECOWAS, the adoption of the ECOWAS Compact of the Future, alongside the commissioning of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre and the ECOWAS Logistics Depot in Lungi, underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional integration, peace, and sustainable development.
The Ambassador also commended First Lady Dr Fatima Maada Bio, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Presidential State Staff, security agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders for their collective efforts in ensuring the successful delivery of the summit.
Ambassador Massaquoi expressed confidence that the successful hosting of the high-level regional meeting would further strengthen Sierra Leone’s international reputation and create new opportunities to expand cooperation with countries across East Asia in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and sustainable development.
Describing the occasion as a proud moment for Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad, the Ambassador extended his congratulations to President Bio and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to promoting Sierra Leone’s interests and strengthening bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea.
