President Julius Maada Bio has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Sierra Leone’s private sector, describing the Chamber of Commerce as a key partner in driving economic growth and investment.
The President made the commitment on Thursday, 23 July 2026, when a delegation from the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce paid a courtesy visit to State House in Freetown.
The meeting focused on improving cooperation between government and businesses, with discussions centred on investment, economic development, and creating a better environment for private sector growth.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chamber Head Modupe Taylor-Pearce congratulated President Bio on his administration’s progress and praised his continued engagement with the business community.
He explained that the Chamber represents businesses across major sectors, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, tourism, transport, construction, and services. He added that the organisation continues to advocate on issues affecting businesses, such as taxation, trade, exports, industrial development, and infrastructure.
Taylor-Pearce also highlighted the upcoming West Africa Integration and Investment Summit as an important platform for attracting regional investment and increasing private sector participation.
Responding to the delegation, President Bio said his government recognises the importance of a strong and credible Chamber of Commerce in supporting national development.
He assured business leaders that government would continue addressing challenges affecting the private sector while promoting an environment that encourages investment, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by the government and private sector stakeholders to build stronger partnerships aimed at supporting Sierra Leone’s economic transformation.
