Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Orders Approval Before Undersheriff Makes Arrests

Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has directed that the Undersheriff’s Office must obtain his approval before carrying out any arrest.

The directive was issued through a letter from the Office of the Deputy Master and Registrar of the Judiciary, reminding the Undersheriff’s Office of the need to follow the new requirement strictly.

According to the notice, any arrest conducted without prior approval from the Chief Justice will be considered a violation of the directive. The letter warned that officers who fail to comply could face serious consequences.

The move is aimed at ensuring greater oversight and adherence to judicial procedures in the execution of arrests by the Undersheriff’s Office.
