The Ministry of Finance has dismissed claims circulating on social media that the government announced a 100% salary increase for teachers in the Fiscal Year 2026 Supplementary Budget Speech.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the official public notice on the FY2026 Supplementary Budget Speech contains no provision for such an increase.

The Ministry described the viral claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard the information and rely only on updates shared through official government communication channels.

“The Ministry encourages the public to verify information through its official channels to avoid being misled by false or unauthorised publications,” the disclaimer stated.

The clarification comes amid growing public attention on the supplementary budget, as authorities continue efforts to address the spread of misinformation on social media platforms.

The Ministry reiterated that any official changes to public sector wages will be communicated exclusively through its verified channels.
