The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has intensified preparations for the launch of the Sierra Leone Women’s Football Strategy, with FIFA Women’s Football Technical Expert, Thuba Sibanda, holding a virtual consultative meeting with Heads of Departments on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The meeting, conducted via Zoom, brought together departmental heads to develop a coordinated roadmap for the successful implementation of the strategy. The session was coordinated by SLFA Head of Women’s Football, Elizabeth Kailey.
The engagement followed the successful conclusion of nationwide regional consultations with female football stakeholders, whose contributions helped shape Sierra Leone’s first comprehensive Women’s Football Strategy. The strategy is expected to provide a clear framework for the sustainable growth and development of women’s football in the country.
According to the SLFA, the meeting also highlighted the importance of cross-departmental collaboration, with various departments expected to play key roles in the implementation of the strategy.
The Sierra Leone Women’s Football Strategy is expected to be officially launched in September 2026, marking another milestone in the SLFA’s commitment, in partnership with FIFA, to creating more opportunities for women and girls to participate and excel in football across Sierra Leone.
