The All People’s Congress, APC, Independent Elections Complaint Board, IECB, has announced hearing dates for petitions arising from the party’s Constituency Executive elections held on 25th July 2026.
In a notice dated 3rd August 2026 and signed by IECB Secretary, Osman Soura Kamara Esq., the Board said hearings will be held over two weeks at the Freetown City Council, 17 Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown, at 12 pm daily.
According to the schedule:
– Western Area: Wednesday 5th August 2026
– Moyamba: Thursday 6th August 2026
– Tonkolili: Friday 7th August 2026
– Bombali: Monday 10th August 2026
– Karene and Kambia: Tuesday 11th August 2026
– Kono: Wednesday 12th August 2026
– Falaba: Thursday 13th August 2026
– All Others: Friday 14th August 2026
The IECB listed Petitioners, Witnesses, and IEMC Respondents as persons of interest. It said two witnesses may accompany each petitioner, and that all Presiding Officers, POs, in petitioned constituencies are mandated to attend as principal witnesses for the IEMC. District IEMC Coordinators may also attend for clarification purposes.
The board also issued key guidelines to be followed, which include:
– Affected Persons: Only those directly affected by the petitions are required to attend. Where a group is affected, one person may speak on their behalf.
– Legal Representation: Legal representatives are permitted to make presentations on behalf of petitioners or affected persons.
– Secretariat: The Secretariat is required to send a representative to clarify issues relating to the Voter Register or any other matter within its mandate.
The Board strongly advised petitioners to serve copies of their petitions on the IEMC and all affected persons, emphasising that all affected persons must be served and notified to ensure they have an opportunity to be heard.
The address for service of petitions is 4 Sanders Street, Freetown, or 16 Adelaide Street, Freetown. The public has been directed to contact the Secretary of the Board for enquiries.
The hearings are part of the APC’s internal process to address grievances from the July 25 constituency executive elections.
