Parliament has approved Chrenor Mahmoud Jalloh on Tuesday, 4th August, 2026, as the new Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), endorsing President Julius Maada Bio’s nomination to lead the country’s pension institution.
The approval forms part of a series of appointments submitted by President Bio and considered by Parliament for key positions across several public institutions.
Jalloh, a chartered accountant with decades of experience in the corporate sector, assumes leadership of NASSIT as the institution faces growing scrutiny over the performance of some of its investments and concerns raised about delays in pension payments.
Parliament also approved Mohamed “Orman” Bangura, the former Minister of Youth Affairs, to serve as Deputy Director General of NASSIT.
In addition to the NASSIT appointments, lawmakers endorsed several other presidential nominees for public office. They include Isata Marah as Deputy Minister of Finance II, Isata Jabbati as Chairperson of the NASSIT Board of Trustees, Dr. Isata Kamanda as Deputy Minister of Agriculture I, Ing. Bryant Smart Kanu as Deputy Minister of Agriculture II, Amid Chrenor Jalloh as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Conservation Trust Fund, and Alusine Kamara as a member of the Professional Social Work Regulatory Committee.
The parliamentary approvals clear the way for the newly endorsed officials to assume their respective responsibilities in the institutions to which they have been appointed.
