Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey has congratulated the 160,161 pupils who sat the 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE), describing their participation as a significant step towards building Sierra Leone’s future.
In a statement following the release of the results, Minister Sackey commended the pupils for showing up and answering the call to sit the examination.
“To all 160,161 pupils who sat this examination: you showed up, you answered the call, and you are building Sierra Leone,” he stated.
According to the Minister, more than 125,000 pupils have successfully earned places in junior secondary school, describing the figure as “125,000 futures unlocked” and a sign of continued progress.
Minister Sackey also encouraged pupils who did not pass the examination not to view the results as the end of their educational journey.
“To those who did not pass: this is not an ending. The Ministry will remove the obstacles that held you back. Return next year. We will be waiting for you,” he said.
The Minister also singled out Davies Bethany, an 11-year-old pupil from Tower Hill Kindergarten and Primary School, who achieved the highest score of 351 in the 2026 NPSE.
Sackey congratulated Bethany for her outstanding performance, saying the achievement demonstrates what is possible for young Sierra Leoneans.
“Davies Bethany, you have shown what is possible. You have set a beacon for every young Sierra Leonean: excellence is within reach,” he said.
He further urged Bethany to take pride in the achievement, assuring her that the Government of Sierra Leone recognises and celebrates her success.
“You are all the future architects of this nation. Congratulations,” Minister Sackey concluded.
