Media personality, youth advocate, and Housemates Salone winner Suad Baydoun, through Baydoun Company Limited and in partnership with Rodlin Entertainment Group, has launched two major national competitions aimed at nurturing intellect, leadership, and creative expression among Sierra Leone’s youth.
The dual initiative, featuring the Suad Baydoun National Debate Competition 2026 and the Suad Baydoun National Essay Writing Competition 2026, offers cash prizes to Winners across the nation.
Both events will take place at the City Hall Auditorium in Freetown on August 14 and August 21, 2026, beginning at 9:00 am promptly.
National Debate Competition 2026 is designed specifically for university teams; the debate championship boasts a total prize pool of NLe 140,000. Every participating institution will also receive a Certificate of Recognition to celebrate their commitment to critical thought and public discourse.

While the National Essay Writing Competition 2026 is focusing on secondary school students across Sierra Leone, the essay competition centers around the theme “Empowering Sierra Leone’s Youth to Shape a Sustainable Future.” Entry is entirely free.
Submissions will be evaluated by an expert panel based on five core criteria: originality, clarity, length, coherence, and relevance.
