The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has announced the 2027 Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC)–UK programme, offering eligible Sierra Leonean students the opportunity to pursue fully funded Master’s and PhD studies in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship programme covers a range of fields, including health, technology, agriculture and other related disciplines, providing successful applicants with an opportunity to further their education at recognised UK universities.
For the Master’s programme, applicants must hold a first degree with at least an Upper Second-Class qualification and meet the admission requirements of their chosen UK university and programme of study. They must also satisfy all eligibility requirements set by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and be aged 35 or below by September 2027.
Applicants for the PhD programme must hold a relevant Master’s degree from a recognised institution, demonstrate strong academic performance and have the capacity to undertake independent research. They must be aged 45 or below by September 2027 and must not have previously applied for a PhD programme before September 2027.
All applicants are required to provide supporting documents, including academic transcripts and certificates, a copy of a valid passport and two reference letters, among other required documents.
The MTHE has encouraged eligible Sierra Leonean students to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their applications before the deadline.
The application deadline is Monday, September 7, 2026.
