The Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Dr Haja Ramatulai Wurie, has led a delegation from the Ministry on site visits across all three campuses of Milton Margai Technical University to assess progress on ongoing works under the Education Sector Support Project.

The visit formed part of efforts to monitor the implementation of the project as it moves towards completion, with the Minister and her team inspecting developments and assessing the impact of the investments on the university’s learning environment.

The Education Sector Support Project is focused on transforming facilities at Milton Margai Technical University through the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and the construction of new facilities. These include administrative buildings, staff accommodation, student hostels and lecture rooms, alongside the provision of essential equipment.

According to the Minister, the site visits provided an opportunity to see the progress of the project firsthand and reflect on the importance of the investment in strengthening technical and higher education in Sierra Leone.

Dr Wurie also commended the female-led Project Implementation Unit for its dedication throughout the project, while expressing appreciation to the contractors and consultants for their continued partnership.

She further acknowledged the academic community at Milton Margai Technical University for its cooperation and understanding throughout the implementation process.

The Minister emphasised that transforming Sierra Leone’s technical and higher education sector requires strong partnerships, noting that the contributions of all stakeholders remain important to achieving the government’s vision.

While acknowledging that work remains to be done, Dr Wurie said the progress recorded so far is encouraging, particularly as the investments take shape towards creating institutions where young people can learn, innovate and thrive.
