Vice-President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has welcomed initiatives by the Latter-day Saints Church aimed at expanding access to education, skills development and employment opportunities for young people in Sierra Leone.
Dr Jalloh made the remarks on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, when he received a delegation from the church at his office.
Discussions focused on the church’s “Succeed in School” programme, healthcare interventions and plans to establish a proposed Global Education Centre in Sierra Leone. The centre is expected to provide young people with access to education and practical skills that can translate into employment opportunities.
Dr Jalloh described the initiatives as “phenomenal”, noting that they could create opportunities for young people to acquire knowledge, develop digital skills and earn a living through technology.
He assured the delegation of the Government’s support, particularly in facilitating the documentation required for the establishment of the centre. He also commended the church for its community-based programmes and its efforts to expand access to education and employment.
Dr Jalloh said partnerships that increase opportunities for education and employment could contribute to building a more productive and responsible generation of young people.
“Every time a young man or a young woman has got an opportunity to go to school and have a job, they become more responsible citizens,” he said.
Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Haja Ramatulai Wurie, also highlighted the growing partnership between the Government and the church in promoting practical education and developing skills relevant to the job market.
Meanwhile, senior church leader Elder Clark G. Gilbert announced plans to establish the Global Education Centre in Sierra Leone, which he said has the potential to create hundreds of jobs through online education and remote employment.
The proposed centre is expected to provide affordable, high-quality education, connect students with global employers and enable them to work remotely while remaining in Sierra Leone.
