Old Edwardians FC has appointed Francis Zappa Koroma as head coach for the upcoming Sierra Leone Premier League season as the club seeks to move from participation to a sustained challenge for the championship.

The appointment was announced as part of a revamped technical setup that Old Edwardians says will be tasked with raising the team’s competitive ambitions.

Technical Director Edwards Bockarie said the club wants to change its approach and compete for the league title rather than simply take part in the competition.

Koroma returns to Old Edwardians after previously serving as the club’s head coach. He was appointed to the position in March 2023 following his departure from East End Lions.

The new technical team will also include Alimu System Koroma and Samuel Abioseh Cole as assistant coaches, while Mohamed Wurie Shaw will serve as fitness coach, according to the announcement.

The appointments give Old Edwardians a new coaching structure ahead of the next Premier League campaign, with the club expected to prepare for a more competitive season.

Koroma also has previous experience coaching other top-flight clubs, including East End Lions and Bai Bureh Warriors. He was named Leone Rock Premier League Coach of the Month for June 2025 while with Bai Bureh Warriors.

Old Edwardians will now look to the new technical team to translate its stated ambition into performances and results when the new Premier League season begins.
