African ambassadors and senior members of the diplomatic community in Sierra Leone have paid tribute to former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Musa Kabba, during a farewell and appreciation reception in Freetown.
The reception was hosted by Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Rasha Soliman, at the Egyptian Residence under the auspices of the African Group of Ambassadors and Chargés d’Affaires.
The gathering brought together ambassadors, chargés d’affaires and other members of the African diplomatic corps to mark Kabba’s departure from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and acknowledge his work during his tenure.
In her remarks, Ambassador Soliman described Kabba as a “distinguished statesman, a true pan-Africanist, and a dear brother,” while highlighting what she described as his contribution to Sierra Leone’s diplomatic engagements and relations with other African countries.
Soliman also highlighted the relationship between Sierra Leone and Egypt, referencing President Julius Maada Bio’s state visit to Cairo in March 2025 as an important development in bilateral relations between the two countries.
She said Kabba’s tenure helped strengthen diplomatic engagement between Sierra Leone and Egypt, describing the period as one in which diplomatic relations translated into practical cooperation.
“Your tenure was a golden era in which we translated diplomatic goodwill into tangible results for our peoples,” Soliman said, adding that Kabba helped build what she described as an “enduring architecture of friendship, solidarity and pan-African unity.”
The Egyptian ambassador further assured Kabba that the Egyptian Embassy and other African diplomatic missions in Sierra Leone would remain open to him, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.
The farewell reception brought together members of the African diplomatic community to acknowledge Kabba’s tenure and mark his transition from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
