The National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA) hosted delegates from the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) to explore joint revenue generation strategies and strengthen regulatory alignment across Sierra Leone’s natural resource sectors.
The bilateral meeting, held at NWRMA’s conference room, brought together NWRMA Director General Ing. Pierre Palmer and newly appointed CTF Executive Director Mr Ahamid C. Jalloh alongside key members of his leadership team.
During the introductory visit, Mr Jalloh outlined the Conservation Trust Fund’s mandate and detailed ongoing challenges regarding fundraising and resource mobilisation. Both leadership teams discussed practical avenues for strategic collaboration, focusing on joint revenue mobilisation models that can sustainably fund environmental conservation, wetland protection, and marine ecosystem management.
To ensure seamless coordination and eliminate jurisdictional overlap, the CTF announced it is finalising its own regulatory framework. The delegation requested access to review NWRMA’s existing regulations, aiming to harmonise policies and prevent functional duplication between the two bodies.
Welcoming the delegation, Ing. Pierre Palmer formally congratulated Mr Jalloh on his appointment and reaffirmed the NWRMA’s commitment to collaborative governance. Palmer emphasised that aligning regulatory powers and pooling resources will prove vital to safeguarding Sierra Leone’s water bodies, critical wetlands, and broader ecological landscape.
