Stats SL Warns Public Against Fake 2026 Census Recruitment Portal
Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) has warned members of the public against a fake recruitment portal and fraudulent instructions circulating online ahead of the 2026 Population and Housing Census.
In a public notice, Stats SL said it has officially opened its recruitment portal for the 2026 Census but clarified that a link being widely circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms is not associated with the institution.
According to Stats SL, the fake portal currently in circulation is https://sutlnk.ink/Recruit-Statistics-Sl, and members of the public have been strongly advised not to use or share the link.
The institution clarified that the only official Census field recruitment portal is https://recruit.statistics.sl.
Stats SL also reminded applicants that the official recruitment process does not require them to:
Pay any money to apply for a Census position;
Share recruitment links or messages as a condition for application;
Share an application form with five WhatsApp groups or 15 friends before submitting it; or
Follow a WhatsApp-sharing process to be redirected to a submission page.
“Any recruitment message or portal containing such instructions is fraudulent and should not be followed,” Stats SL stated.
The statistical institution further urged members of the public to protect their personal information and rely only on recruitment information published through its official communication channels, including its website and verified social media platforms.
Stats SL emphasised that the recruitment process is free of charge and that no payment is required at any stage of the application process.
