Algeria Opens 40 Scholarship Opportunities for Sierra Leonean Students
Sierra Leonean students seeking opportunities to pursue higher education abroad have been offered a new opportunity as the Government of Algeria makes available 40 university scholarships for eligible Sierra Leonean students.
The initiative, announced by the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Freetown, is part of the ongoing cooperation between Algeria and Sierra Leone in the field of higher education.
The scholarships will enable successful candidates to pursue higher education at Algerian universities in a range of academic fields and specialisations designated under the programme.
Financial support for successful candidates
According to the Embassy, the Algerian side will provide substantial support to students selected under the scholarship programme.
The package will cover tuition fees, accommodation, meals and internal transportation, reducing the financial burden associated with studying abroad and allowing beneficiaries to concentrate on their academic programmes.
The opportunity is open to eligible Sierra Leonean students who meet the requirements for the relevant fields of study.

Applicants are expected to prepare a complete application file, including:
- A copy of a valid passport;
- Copies of relevant academic certificates and diplomas;
- Official academic transcripts or academic records;
- A birth certificate;
- A medical certificate confirming the applicant’s fitness to pursue studies;
- A recent passport-size photograph.
