Two Drivers Remanded Over Alleged Theft of Government Vehicle in Freetown
Two drivers, Alie Kamara and Abubakarr Koroma, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on allegations of conspiracy and larceny.
The two accused are facing charges in connection with the alleged theft of a white JAC J6 4×4 pickup vehicle, registration number AWV 063, valued at Le636,000 and reportedly under the custody of the Ministry of Education.
According to the prosecution, the alleged incident occurred on July 1, 2026, at the Ministry of Education in New England Ville, Western Area, Freetown.
Kamara and Koroma are accused of conspiring with unknown persons to steal the government vehicle.
The charges include conspiracy to commit a felony and larceny under the Larceny Act of 1916.
Both accused appeared before Magistrate Jah and pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
The proceedings were subsequently adjourned after the prosecution’s key witness was unavailable to testify. Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen Esq. requested a short adjournment to allow the prosecution to continue presenting its case.
Magistrate Jah ordered that Kamara and Koroma remain in custody at the Male Correctional Facility pending the next hearing.
The matter has been adjourned to September 28, 2026, for further proceedings.
The allegations against Kamara and Koroma have not been proven in court. Both remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a competent court.
