Ministry of Sports and NSA Commend Security Forces After Massive Cleaning Exercise at Bo Stadium
Sia Lucy Kannah The Ministry of Sports (MoS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) have formally expressed their gratitude to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and partner security agencies following a massive cleaning exercise conducted at the Bo Stadium on Saturday, 26th September 2026.
The joint operation, led by personnel from the RSLAF in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS), focused on overhaul cleaning, sanitation, and debris management across the stadium grounds to prepare the facility for upcoming national sporting fixtures and public events.
Sports Minister, Augusta James-Teima, and NSA Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh commended the security services for their discipline and dedication throughout the exercise, describing the effort as a shining example of civil-military cooperation.
“The intervention has significantly improved the hygiene and safety of the facility, making it more attractive and ready for sporting and other major activities,” the leadership noted, stressing that the military’s involvement underscores a strong commitment to national development beyond territorial defense.
Personnel from the RSLAF, SLP, and SLCS worked alongside local workers to restore health and safety standards across the stands, pitch boundaries, and surrounding premises.
The exercise received logistical coordination and operational backing from both the Bo City Council and the Bo District Council.
The Ministry of Sports and the NSA confirmed plans to deepen ongoing partnerships with security forces to preserve and maintain national sporting assets nationwide.
