Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has held discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), where the two ministers discussed ways to deepen the existing partnership between Sierra Leone and Morocco.

According to Minister Swaray, both sides agreed to develop a comprehensive new roadmap aimed at giving greater clarity, priority and practical direction to bilateral cooperation.

The proposed roadmap will focus on key sectors relevant to Sierra Leone’s development, including trade, agriculture, fertiliser supply, investment, water management, fisheries, mining and capacity building.

The two ministers also discussed the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline project and its potential to improve energy access and support industrial growth across the West African region.

Minister Swaray said the discussions were focused on translating the shared priorities between Sierra Leone and Morocco into tangible benefits for citizens of both countries.

The engagement forms part of Sierra Leone’s broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen international partnerships and advance cooperation in sectors critical to national development.
