The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in Kono District has launched a targeted road maintenance exercise in Koidu City as part of efforts to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents.

The initiative, spearheaded by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Alimamy Gibrill Sesay, Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Motema Police Division, forms part of the division’s community-oriented policing strategy.

Police officers worked alongside residents to repair deteriorated sections of roads, with the aim of reducing hazards faced by motorists and pedestrians in the busy city centre.

The exercise highlights the SLP’s approach to community policing, which extends beyond routine patrols and crime prevention to addressing safety concerns affecting residents.

By working directly with communities to address road-related hazards, the Motema Police Division seeks to strengthen cooperation with residents, promote shared responsibility for public safety and build public trust.

The initiative reflects the police’s broader efforts to engage communities proactively and respond to the everyday safety needs of residents in Kono District.
