Supreme Court Eases Access Restrictions for Lawyers at Constitutional Amendment Hearing
The restriction on lawyers entering the Law Court building to follow the ongoing constitutional amendment hearing has been reversed, with lawyers in and around the premises now permitted to attend.
The change follows an earlier decision to limit courtroom access to lawyers with at least 15 years of standing, according to ECKO MEDIA.
Under the initial arrangement, younger lawyers were prevented from entering the building as the Supreme Court heard cases concerning the Constitutional Amendment Bill.
ECKO MEDIA reported that the updated decision now allows lawyers who are already in and around the Law Court building to witness the proceedings.
The development comes as the Supreme Court considers cases arising from the controversial constitutional amendment process, drawing significant interest from members of the legal profession.
