Liberation People’s Party Secures Police Clearance for District Engagements
The Liberation People’s Party (LPP) has received police clearance to conduct a series of district engagements in Bo and the Western Urban District, following approval from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
The approval was communicated in a letter dated October 8, 2026, from the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters in Freetown to LPP National Secretary General, Mrs Thelma Moriba, in response to the party’s application dated October 6, 2026.
According to the police clearance, the LPP is authorised to hold engagements at designated venues in Selenga Chiefdom and Valunia Chiefdom in Bo District on Friday, October 9, followed by another engagement at Gaula Community Barray in Bo District on Saturday, October 10. The party is also cleared to hold an engagement at Casablanca Field, Aberdeen Road New Market, in the Western Urban District on Sunday, October 11.
The police, however, made clear that the clearance is strictly limited to meetings at the designated venues and does not authorise processions, rallies or jogging activities. The use of marshals is also prohibited.
The Sierra Leone Police further reminded the LPP that the approved activities must comply with the provisions of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 and the Road Traffic Regulation, 2007.
The Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General Joseph Lahai, Acting Regional Police Commander Freetown West, ACP M. B. Kamara, and the Local Unit Commander of the Congo Cross Division have been informed of the approval and requested to monitor the engagements accordingly.
The clearance provides the LPP with formal police approval to proceed with its planned grassroots engagements while placing clear restrictions on the nature and conduct of the activities.
