Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr David Moinina Sengeh, has revealed he held a brief but “wonderful” conversation about Sierra Leone with His Majesty King Charles III and Sir Idris Elba.

Chief Minister Sengeh disclosed this in a short statement on Monday:

“H.M. King Charles III, Sir Idris Elba, and I had a wonderful brief conversation about Sierra Leone today.”

The encounter took place at Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua on Monday, November 2, where King Charles is attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

According to UK royal correspondents, King Charles had a light-hearted encounter with Sir Idris at the Dockyard where he was also speaking with Chief Minister Sengeh.

The King was touring the historic dockyard ahead of the Commonwealth summit when he encountered the Luther star, who was hosting the One Commonwealth Night concert at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Charles had just placed an engraved stone into a wall before the two were reunited.

Sir Idris, who is of Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian heritage and was knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle in June for services to young people, is a goodwill ambassador for The King’s Trust. He received a £1,500 Prince’s Trust grant at age 18 that launched his acting career.

Chief Minister Sengeh is part of Sierra Leone’s delegation to the CHOGM summit, where issues of youth empowerment, climate, and sustainable development are top of the agenda themes closely aligned with Elba’s ongoing Sherbro Island eco-city project and advocacy for Sierra Leone.
