One Mohamed Sesay on Tuesday 28 March 2023 made another appearance before Justice Simeon Alieu of Freetown High Court for an alleged forged voter’s registration card.
The Accused was arrested by the police when he went to register for the June 24th elections of 2023; where the Voter’s Registration Officer entered the unique identification number on the alleged forged card which showed the details of one Fanta Fullah.
The prosecution lead, P. Hastings Spaine, was reexamined by PW 4 Vangawo Sesay from the Data Management and Voter’s Roll Department for ECSL to tell the court about his job in the commission. PW 4 said he is responsible for developing data, managing and creating the Commission’s webpage and updating the voter’s register.
Meanwhile, When asked to identify and confirm the authentication of the exhibit tendered as evidence in court said the exhibit was not from the ECSL.
However, in Replying to Justice Allieu, PW 4 said the exhibit tendered is fake as the unique number on the card was in the data system of the Commission showing a female named Fanta Fullah, and her face whereas the ID card in Court has the same unique number with a male name Musa Sesay and face.
PW 4 further said to the defence lawyer Tamba Kelly that the ECSL will never issue out any faulty voter’s ID card. But will rather issue a slip to vote while corrections are carried out on the ID.
Justice Simeon Alieu adjourned the matter to Thursday, March 30 for another hearing.
