According to reports from Global Times, Sentinel Telecommunications Company Limited is to takeover the assets and liabilities of the moribund Sierra Leone Telecommunications Company in a deal negotiated by the National Commission for Privatization.

Global Times reports that, On 22nd September, 2021, Sentinel Telecommunications Company was awarded a contract to manage the assets of Sierratel and settle all the company’s liabilities after a bid process managed by NCP. A transition process is underway, according to a spokesman for Sentinel.

It is not yet known what the new company intends to do with the former employees of Sierratel.

Meanwhile, Sentinel has hired the services of Afriqia HR Solutions Limited to handle all human resource issues emanating from the transition process, according to an official of Sentinel.

A leaked memo to the NCP Chairman from Sentinel states, “We need to ascertain for ourselves prior to the takeover, exactly what prevails at this moment, including staff emoluments, and liabilities and human resource systems so we can plan properly”.

Sentinel’s Chief Executive Officer is Karefa A. Kargbo with offices at 92 Lumley Beach Road, Aberdeen in Freetown.
