The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk has applauded Sierra Leone for adopting the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Bill.

He made this known at the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC52) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Turk stressed that equal pay for women is a great move by the government of Sierra Leone and called on other better-resourced countries to follow suit.

Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamin Tarawalley Esq. made a strong case for the significant steps in promoting human rights in Sierra Leone on the principles of universality, objectivity, impartiality, and non-selectivity. at the 52nd session of HRC in Geneva
