The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad O. Sackey, has approved the reconstitution of the Board of Governors for the Prince of Wales School in Freetown, according to a ministry letter dated 10th September 2026.

The letter, addressed to the school’s principal, states that the appointment is made in accordance with Section 48 (1) of the Basic and Senior Secondary Education Act, 2023.

The new board is appointed for a three-year term, effective from 1st September 2026, subject to satisfactory performance. The appointees include Mr. Yada Williams as Chairman, alongside members such as Ing. Nadia Wurie and Dr. Ayesha Mustapha, with representation from the Chief Education Officer, the Deputy Director of TSC, elected PCTA, the Mayor of Freetown City Council, and an elected past pupil.

The ministry has directed the principal to implement a series of administrative actions, including sending letters of appointment to the new members, requesting written acceptance, and summoning an inaugural board meeting at the earliest possible date.

Furthermore, the newly constituted board is tasked with preparing a School Improvement Plan (SIP) and a budget estimate for the upcoming school year, to be submitted via the District Deputy Director.

The ministry also specified that for schools without a functional alumni association, the principal, Head Boy or Girl, and Senior Prefect should represent past pupils in the interim.

The Prince of Wales School, located in the Kingtom area of Freetown, was established on 6 April 1925. It is an all-boys secondary school with a historical emphasis on science education and modern languages, and its alumni include inventor Kelvin Doe.
