Education Ministry Announces Swiss Government “Excellence” Scholarship Program for 2026/2027
Deborah Sorie The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has issued a public notice announcing the opening of applications for the Swiss Government “Excellence” Scholarship Program for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The scholarship program targets postgraduate research and advanced studies, specifically covering doctoral and postdoctoral research opportunities.
The MTHE has instructed interested candidates to submit their applications through a two-step process:
Online Submission: All required documentation must be submitted online no later than November 30, 2025.

Hard Copy Submission: A completed application form, along with all supporting documents, must also be hand-delivered to the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education in New England Ville, Freetown, on or before November 30, 2025.
The Ministry emphasized a critical requirement for eligibility:
Prerequisite: Interested candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree, as these scholarships are intended for postgraduate students pursuing doctoral and postdoctoral research.
Applicants submitting the hard copy documents are instructed to clearly mark the envelope with the following four pieces of information:
- Application for Swiss Scholarship Program
- Applicant’s Full Name
- Contact Number
- Email Address
