Benson Edward Bangura, widely known as Benson Da Gospel Rapper, is gearing up to release his latest gospel rap song titled “Moment of Truth.”

This upcoming track is not just a song but a sermon in itself, addressing issues of character and calling for repentance and adoration.

Born on May 17, 1998, in Freetown, Benson spent his formative years in Kenema, where he attended Saint Charles Lwanga Primary School before progressing to Holy Trinity Secondary School. Currently in his third year at Njala University pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, Benson’s passion for music ministry traces back to his early years. At the age of 12, he began ministering in the children’s ministry at The Door Christian Fellowship Church in Kenema.

Benson’s dedication and talent in music ministry led him to represent his region in the renowned national solo singing competition in Sierra Leone, Vocal Drift Inspire. Despite not clinching the top spot, Benson’s exceptional performance as the only rapper among singers nationwide earned him recognition and exposure.

The accolades soon followed, with Benson receiving nominations for multiple awards both nationally and internationally. In 2021, he was nominated for Best Gospel Artist at the Black Achievement Awards (BAA), International Solo Artist of the Year at the Prayze Factor Awards in Atlanta, USA, and Best Gospel Artist at the Kenema Entertainment Awards (KEA). He also bagged the title of Most Influential Youth at the Black Achievement Awards.

Continuing his streak, Benson received nominations in 2023 for Best Gospel Rapper of the Year at the Sierra Leone Association of Artists and Musicians (SLAAM) Awards, Best Gospel Artist at the Kenema Entertainment Awards (KEA), and Best Gospel Holy Hip-hop Minister at the Sierra Leone National Gospel Awards (SLNGA), where he clinched the award for Best Gospel Hip-hop Minister of the Year.

Despite being an indie artist, Benson’s talent has not gone unnoticed. He is also a member of the Morning Dew team, led by Petros Dalton.

With two official songs under his belt, “Stay Hopeful” released in 2021 and “Ol God Tightly” in 2022, Benson has also collaborated with various artists such as Rap Santa and Christo De Gospel Rapper.

“Moment of Truth” promises to be another powerful addition to Benson’s repertoire, blending his lyrical prowess with a message of faith and redemption. Stay tuned for the release of this anticipated track by one of Sierra Leone’s rising gospel rap stars.
