Popular rapper Mohamed Kargbo, also known as Med Denero of Black Leo has reportedly been granted bail for a second time in an ongoing legal dispute with fellow artist Famous.
Amidu Sesay and Mohamed Kargbo, both associates of Sierra Leone’s entertainment ambassador Kao Denero are facing a seven-count indictment, including allegations of conspiracy, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, disorderly behavior, and intimidation.
These offenses reportedly occurred on February 22, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown. The charges stem from an alleged attack on local musician Frederick Peters, widely known as Famous, and his colleague Ibrahim Fofanah.
Prosecutors claim Sesay and Kargbo, along with unknown individuals, assaulted the two men and engaged in threatening and disorderly conduct, causing fear and injury.
The latest bail decision, issued earlier this week, includes an unusual condition: Medlenero must release a formal video apology to Famous.
Sources close to the matter indicate that the bail terms encompass standard legal requirements, such as travel restrictions and regular check-ins with authorities, in addition to the mandatory publicly viewable apology. The video is expected to acknowledge Medlenero’s wrongdoing and express remorse toward Famous.
Medlenero was initially granted bail in early June under strict conditions, which included a prohibition on public commentary regarding the case. However, the new requirement for a public apology has elicited varied reactions within Sierra Leone’s music community.
