Popular Radio DJ, Ahmad Tejan Davies, better known as DJ Ahmad, has traveled to the United States of America to reunite with family and pursue a new endeavor.

The Former Radio Democracy 98.1FM worker remain one of the longest DJs in Sierra Leone until he retired this month. Ahmad Davies has worked at several media institutions as a DJ, including SLBS Radio, Skyy Radio and Radio Democracy.

Ahmad Tejan Davies, otherwise known as DJ Ahmad, started his primary education at UMC Primary School, Moiba and proceeded to Bishop Crowder School at Cline Town, East of Freetown. After his Selective Entrance exams, he was admitted at the Albert Academy Secondary School, where he groomed the love and passion for music.

Ahmad has a lineage to music through his father, Abdul Rahman Davies aka Daddy Rahmanu, a popular Sierra Leonean cultaral musician, well known for his ‘Paddle’ song. Ahmad therefore chose to play music in honor of his father’s legacy.

He started playing as a freelance DJ. In 1997, he worked as a Guest DJ alongside DJ Osman at West Coast Radio in Banjul, The Gambia. From 1998, until he retires in 2022, DJ Ahmad has worked for SLBS Radio, Skyy Radio and Radio Democracy 98.1FM, where he served for over 18 years as a DJ and a Continuity Announcer.

DJ Ahmad Davies is a revered personality in the media and entertainment landscape of Sierra Leone. He introduced many folks into the profession and maintained very good relationship with colleagues.

His days at Radio Democracy were remarkable. Ahmad was Head of Entertainment at the station and a key promoter of Salone music. His blend of African and continental music was incredible, which kept his followers closer to their radio sets.

Bidding farewell to colleague staff and management of Radio Democracy, DJ Ahmad was in tears while expressing how he feels leaving an institution he has served for nearly two decades.

“It’s really sad to leave. Half of my life was spent with 98.1. I’m happy for the space given to me to improve on my life and skills. I appreciate the love”.

The Station Manager of Radio Democracy, Madam Asmaa James considers DJ Ahmad as someone who diligently served Radio Democracy for 18 years. He started a freelancer for a long period before coming a fully employed staff of the station. DJ Ahmad succeeded in introducing several DJs at 98.1 FM, including the current SLeDU President DJ Lawva and several others.

The Radio Democracy management and staff paid tribute to DJ Ahmad while bidding him farewell and wished him well in his new endeavors abroad.

They presented DJ Ahmad with a frame, containing message of appreciation for his service to the Radio. It reads:
“We are seriously going to miss you here. Your dedication and commitment to work have been exceptionally great. Best of luck with your new endeavors and the never ending adventures”.

DJ Ahmad is well known for his popular Radio show ‘SHAKE ADE DAE’ on 98.1 FM. He has been using this amazing show to promote Sierra Leone music.

His passion and love for playing music was awesome. Fans and followers of Radio Democracy will miss his mixing skills and his unique voice on the radio, which were his trademark.

DJ Ahmad has worked with several Sierra Leonean artistes throughout his career, including the likes of Emerson, Daddy Saj, Camouflage, and many more.

His colleague DJs including DJ Kallox, DJ Lawva and others, paid tribute to Ahmad, who they regard as a living legend in the field of spinning.
They commended him for dedication and contributions to the development of the DJs fraternity in Sierra Leone.
