A Guinean-Sierra Leonean cultural artist, Mom Laga has launched an emotional public appeal to reunite with his mother, from whom he was separated as a child following the breakdown of his parents’ marriage.
According to a narration from a blogger, the artist, who was speaking in Fula, stated that his mother left him and his sister with their father in Guinea at a tender age, taking along with her his younger brother and never return.
He disclosed that her mother was from Bo, Eastern Sierra Leone, and had an intermarriage with his Guinean father but later got separated and has not seen her since then and can no longer recognise her.
The artist made this disclosure during a TV interview when asked about the biggest challenge he is facing presently.
The narrator continued that after the artist’s video went viral, an elderly woman from the North of Sierra Leone has claimed to be the mother of the artist.
The woman explained that she left Guinea before the civil war in Sierra Leone upon receiving a message that her mother was sick, taking along her youngest child whom she referred to as Chernor.
She added that ever since she returned to visit her mother, her husband never sent transportation fare for her return, nor did he check on her and the child she took along.
The narrator has promised to link the artist and the woman who claimed to be the mother, though there are a few controversies with the location of the woman.
