Principal Magistrate, Sahr Kekura has today remanded popular musician, Alhaji Amadu Bah alias LAJ at the Pademba Road male Correctional Center in Freetown.

He appeared before the Court to answer to 4 Counts including Robbery with violence.

It is alleged that Boss LA was maltreated at the OSD’s jail cell where he was locked up. As a result of that, social media was awashed with calls from members of the public, human rights organisations and fellow musicians for the rapper to be released, and for independent investigation to be conducted on the alleged inhuman treatments he suffered in police custody.

The Sierra Leone Police however denied these allegations, but admitted to have cut the rapper’s dreadlocks off as part of their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and for his safety.

The Inspector General of Police, Ambrose Sovula told the BBC that they cut Boss LA’s dread off because he wanted to strangle himself with them.

The matter comes up on 22nd June, 2022.
