Prominent Sierra Leonean artist, actress and entrepreneur, Zainab Sheriff aka the Mamie Na Power has on social media told Sierra Leoneans to treat political parties as cellphone companies.

Sierra Leone was known as a peaceful country with diverse indigenes that respected each other irrespective of your religion, ethnicity or tribe. Over the years, despite people belonging to different diverse groups, yet they live in harmony.

In recent times, the country seems to be metamorphosing into a chaotic place where leaders consider once known citizens of the nation as terrorists. Few weeks ago, precisely on the 10th August 2022, the country faced another tragedy that resulted to bloodshed and lives lost. The cause of this event and past brutal events were all tied to political parties.

Politicians are corny in a way they get close to you when they need you, when they are done using you, you become a trash to dump. With regards to the incitement and poisoning the minds of youth to serve as political dogs, popular entertainer and CEO of Big Sisters Sierra Leone, Zainab Sheriff has considered political parties and politicians as cellphone companies and citizens should treat them as such henceforth.

According to the celebrity in the context of cellphone companies, we need them to run the day to day activities that allows us to make and receive calls. This is analogous to political parties, we expect them to run the country safe without dividing it’s citizens, but it is the opposite to what we see.

Zainab Sheriff continued that, if your call is not going through, as citizens of Sierra Leone we need to change the phone company by replacing the SIM card and make your call. In the context of political parties, we owe no obligations to these political parties that our expectations are not met and yet we die for them.

“Our politicians are complacent because they know they can hide under the shelter of their political parties. They know our weaknesses, they manipulate it to the death of us then play the blame game, non care 💯.” Zainab Sheriff mentioned

Analogous to political parties, Zainab Sheriff mentioned this on her Facebook handle:

Political parties are like cellphone companies, we need them to run the day to day activities that allows us to make and receive calls.

Now if your calls ain’t going through change the phone company by replacing the sim and make your call.

You don’t need to be loyal to a phone company and not being able to make your calls and do your business.

Also you don’t need to die for a phone company just to keep them in business, that is not your business.

Your business is to make the call that get your business going , you get it?

If the network ain’t good we move.

Our business is to make the phone calls that makes our business and our business is Sierra Leone.

Our politicians are complacent because they know they can hide under the shelter of their political parties. They know our weaknesses, they manipulate it to the death of us then play the blame game, non care 💯.

They know where the power is, the power is the people but the power is now their parties because the people transfer their power to their parties and they run and control their parties with their own interests above all else.”
