Sierra Leonean-British rapper, Zuhair Hassan professional known as Big Zuu has on Sunday 8 May on BBC One at 18.00 BST won two awards from the British Academy Television Awards,  BAFTA TV awards 2022 organised by The Virgin Media.

Zuhair Hassan, known professionally as Big Zuu, is a British rapper, grime MC, songwriter, DJ and Television personality from west London. He is best known for presenting Big Zuu’s Big Eats for Dave. His mother is from Sierra Leone and his father is from Lebanon.

Big Zuu was among the big winners at the Bafta TV Awards. Big Zuu the likes of Graham Norton and Michael McIntyre, won the prize for best entertainment performance, and his Big Eats series won the features award.

In his acceptance speech, he decided how the trio’s families had been immigrants to the UK he told the audience in his features acceptance speech: “Representation is so important, growing up, there weren’t many chefs or people that looked like me on telly. And now, there’s young people watching us doing our ting, going. You know what, if these wester men can win a Bafta, surely, we can” he stated.
