10 Sentenced For Smoking Cannabis
Salamatu Y. Kamara On Friday 31st March 2923, Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 sentenced Abubakarr Mansaray, Foday Conteh, Mohamed Kanu, Musa Sankoh, and others for one month at the Male Correctional Center or pay a fine of five hundred thousand leones each.
It was alleged that on the 29th of March 2023, all accused persons were found smoking cannabis sativa at Cline Town in Freetown.
The accused persons were standing trial on a one-count charge of being found smoking cannabis sativa contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura stated after hearing the plea of mitigation for and on behalf of the convicts from the defense counsel M. A. Kamara taking into consideration that the convicts pleaded guilty and they were first-time offenders, the order that they pay a fine of five hundred thousand leones (NLe500) each or spend a month in prison at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.
After the judgment, some of the accused relatives in the court’s premises were in a joyful mood.
The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Oman M. Bangura.
