19-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Motorbike Discharged
Deborah Sorie The High Court in Kenema has discharged 19-year-old Ganawa Sesay, who was facing charges of larceny, after the prosecution failed to produce witnesses to testify against him.
Sesay, a resident of Lango Town Layout, appeared before Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff to answer to one count of Larceny in a Dwelling House, contrary to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The prosecution alleged that on July 22, 2025, Sesay entered the home of Bishop Sahr Fillie with the intent to steal. He was accused of taking an unregistered black Star motorbike valued at Twenty-Four Thousand New Leones (NLe 24,000), the property of Tamba Prince Kondeh.
Sesay pleaded not guilty to the charge.
During the proceedings, State Counsel Andrew F. Kamara was unable to present a witness to substantiate the case. Noting the prosecution’s continued failure to bring forward witnesses since the matter was first inspected, Justice Sheriff ruled to discharge the defendant for “want of prosecution.”
