An eight-year-old boy known as Patrick Jacob, from Bengumaya village in Sandor Chiefdom, Kono District, tragically drowned in a river in his village.

According to the report, it was indicated that Patrick was playing with his friends when he lost sight of them, which later led to a frantic search that lasted for nearly seventy-two hours, leading to the discovery of his lifeless body in the same river where he has said to be drowned.

Disturbingly, it has been reported that during the retrieval of Patrick’s remains from the river, there was evidence of mutilation around his private part (penis). Some onlookers, albeit unprofessional, speculate that crabs and fishes in the river might have been responsible for this mutilation, given the extended time Patrick’s remains spent in the water before being found.

After the retrieval of Patrick’s remains from the river, it was transported to the Koidu Government Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. This examination aims to determine the cause of death and investigate the circumstances surrounding the apparent mutilation.

As of the latest update, the remains are still at the Koidu Government Hospital mortuary, awaiting the postmortem examination and subsequent burial.

Concurrently, police investigations into the matter are ongoing. The community is undoubtedly grappling with the shock and grief of this tragic incident.

The results of the postmortem examination and police investigations may provide more insight into the circumstances surrounding Patrick Jacob’s untimely death and the disturbing discovery of mutilation.
