Sierra Leone’s former Inspector general of Police, Brima Acha Kamara is dead.

Kamara is also the Former Ambassador to Liberia under the late President Kabia and the Ernest Bai Koroma led government.

He died on Wednesday 27th January, 2021 at the 34 Military Hospital in Freetown following a long illness.

The late Brima Archa Kamara is a Sierra Leonean police general and diplomat, who was the former Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police (SLP), the professional head of the Sierra Leone Police forces. Since July 2014 he has been the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Liberia and Ivory Coast. He was appointed to the position by former President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah.

Until his death, Kamara was a member of the Limba ethnic group. He also has relation to the town Kamabai situated in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, 15 miles away from the capital of Bombali, Makeni as well as Mabokeni and Binkolo.

Family sources say the former IG has been on the sick bed since July 2017 and has been undergoing medication in the UK. Funeral announcement will be announced later.
