In a courtroom drama at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown, 26-year-old chef Prince Solomon Amara Tucker faced Magistrate Sahr Kekura for the first time, answering to a charge of Larceny under section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
The charges stemmed from an incident on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at No.18 Hennessy Street, Kingtom, Western Area, Freetown, where Tucker allegedly stole an iPhone XS valued at twenty-eight thousand Leones (28,000), property of Deepak Ahuja.
Acknowledging the charges, Tucker pleaded guilty, prompting Inspector Kadie M Taylor to inform the court that there were no available records of previous charges against the accused.
Despite being unrepresented, Tucker pleaded for mercy, leading to a plea mitigation. In response, Magistrate Kekura handed down a sentence of twelve months imprisonment. The accused now faces the choice of serving the sentence or exploring alternative resolutions as the legal proceedings unfold.
