CHRDI Chief Executive Meets UN Secretary-General Candidate in New York
The Chief Executive of the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), Mr A. M. Fatoma, has met with María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés of Ecuador, a candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General and former President of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting took place in New York on the margins of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where Mr Fatoma is participating in a series of high-level side events.
Discussions between the two focused on key global and regional issues, including human rights, accountability, Africa’s common position on reform of the United Nations, and pressing humanitarian challenges facing communities around the world.
The engagement provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the role of the United Nations in addressing human rights concerns, strengthening accountability mechanisms and responding to emerging global humanitarian challenges.
Mr Fatoma’s participation in the UNGA side events forms part of his ongoing engagement with international stakeholders on issues relating to human rights, governance and accountability.
