A cocoa dispute in Kailahun District has led to renewed calls for peaceful conflict resolution among farming communities, as they stress the importance of dialogue to prevent disagreements from escalating into violence.

Residents of Mansata Section in Kailahun Town say farmers and community members must continue to use peaceful methods, including discussions with elders and local leaders, to settle disagreements.
A community member said that conflicts can be avoided when people choose dialogue before taking actions that may harm others.
“People should learn to discuss their problems and seek help from community leaders when disagreements happen,” the resident said.
The matter came to public attention after a reported disagreement involving cocoa seeds at Bajaih Bush in the Bundehs Town Section of Kailahun on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Police have since arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident, while investigations continue.
The victim, Sallieu Ensah, is receiving medical treatment at the Kailahun Government Hospital.
Community leaders say the situation highlights the need for stronger awareness among young people on peaceful communication and conflict management.
