Traffic movement in parts of Freetown was reportedly disrupted after another 40-foot container truck overturned near the Congo Cross Roundabout, forcing the temporary closure of the area.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, caused heavy traffic congestion as motorists and commuters were diverted from the affected route while efforts were made to secure the scene and restore the free flow of traffic.
Authorities closed off the area to ensure public safety and facilitate the removal of the overturned container truck. The closure resulted in significant delays for road users travelling through one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known, and there were no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities at the time of reporting.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and exercise patience as relevant authorities work to clear the obstruction and reopen the road to normal traffic.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over the increasing number of container truck accidents in Freetown, particularly involving 40-foot containers, and has renewed calls for stricter road safety measures and enhanced regulation of heavy-duty vehicles operating within the city.
