Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court, on Tuesday 28 February 2023, remanded one Driver Edward Gray, at the Male Correctional Center for Manslaughter.
Driver Edward Gray, 37 (The accused) was arraigned in Court Tuesday 28 February 2023, on a count charge of Manslaughter against Ann Marifudia Mansaray (Deceased) contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
Sub-Inspector Sandi attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Kissy Police Station testified in Court that during the investigation, the accused disclosed to him that, the Deceased (Ann Marifudia Mansaray) was surreptitiously having an affair with a police officer whose name was not mentioned,
Inspector Sandi responded in the affirmative.
The defense counsel David Babatunde John, confronted Inspector Sandi that the deceased was jealous and that she had attacked the accused which Sandi also answered in the affirmative.
Defense counsel Babatunde John explained that the accused went to the police station as the plaintiff when he was arrested as the suspect.
Inspector Sandi answered yes.
The Defence counsel confronted the witness again that when a team of police officers from the aforesaid police station visited the crime scene at No. 22b Old Railway line, Brima lane Wellington he discovered that Ann Marifudia Mansaray was spread out on the bed to which he answered in the affirmative.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Williams Fayia Sellu, allegedly testified in Court that the accused (Edward Gray), on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Kissy Police station Wellington, Freetown, killed Ann Marifudia Mansaray.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura Denied the accused bail and remanded him at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 7 March 2023, for another hearing.
